Need a little inspiration? Here are my top 6 picks in 2023 for unique props for a wedding or photoshoot. – for brides seeking a unique backdrop for their wedding portraits or photographers building their portfolios. All of these props have been photographed by my previous renters in one of my dress rentals. Let their creativity inspire you!
An igloo
Doesn’t the thought of an igloo give you Alaska or Norway vibes? Well, if you’re as obsessed with them as I am, you don’t have to leave the U.S. to get photos in an igloo. In the past years, igloos have become popular and used as restaurant outdoor seating. I suggest you contact a local restaurant to see if you can rent one during their slow time!
Photographed in Western Massachusetts recently, this gorgeous igloo is set in the woods and decorated boho style. This dress rental is Andres, and she’s extremely popular in 2023. Photography by Lindsay Burgess Photography
Old wooden doors
If you’re going for rustic, old paint-chipped doors are brilliant and fit the Western vibe. If you don’t have them, look for them at an antique shop, and see if you can “rent them” for a day for a photo shoot in exchange for some photos. Or find a “salvage” store that may have saved them when tearing down old buildings!
This western photoshoot took place in Oklahoma, and aren’t those doors gorgeous? The form-fitting boho wedding dress is named Phoenix, and Makayla Kay Photo took this image.
A vintage car
A vintage car is perfect for a photo shoot or for wedding portraits, especially sitting on a rooftop with a cityscape in the background! Did you know you don’t have to have a “friend” who owns something like this to use it for a prop? Look at Turo, a car-sharing service that will let you rent it from the owner for the day. Everything from vintage convertibles to beefy 4×4 Jeeps!
The perfect way to add a little flair to your photo shoot or wedding portraits!
This photoshoot took place in Syracuse, New York, and check out that flower arrangement sourced by Fifty Flowers. Unfortunately, this dress is no longer available for rent. Photos by C Leigh Photo
A retro camper
Anything “retro” is the perfect backdrop for all our photoshoots, don’t you think? You can rent campers, vans, and RVs from real owners on Outdoorsy.com or rent one on Airbnb – click to see this Southern Living article for unique vintage RV stays nationwide. Plan a photography retreat around your stay!
This photoshoot was set up in the desert outside of Las Vegas. Photos were shot inside and outside. This shoot was put together by P3Events. with the Phoenix dress.
A beach pier
During the summer, you have to take advantage of shooting on the beach. To stay out of direct sunlight, a long pier is a perfect backdrop and location, don’t you agree?
This gorgeous shoot was set up on the pier in Cape May, New Jersey by Kaitlin Noel Co. This iconic dress is called Elsa, and yes, she is still for rent!
